HIGHLAND, IN. – Strack & Van Til teamed up with the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana to provide Thanksgiving dinners for families in need of food assistance.

Amy Briseno, vice president of development and communications for the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana, said 1,500 households will receive holiday meal assistance from this partnership with Strack & Van Til.

“The Thanksgiving meal kits provided by the Strack family became a key part of our ‘Hope for the Holidays’ initiatives for many years,” Briseno said. “More recently, they greatly increased the number of holiday meal kits donated which has been critical to the food bank’s ability to offer these items to our neighbors for Thanksgiving.”

The Thanksgiving meal kit items include turkey, pie and dry sides, such as canned vegetables and other holiday fixings.

“As an Annual Premier Partner and Mobile Market Sponsor, Strack & Van Til makes the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana’s ‘Hope for the Holidays’ initiative possible,” Briseno said. “The Strack family has been part of the work of the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana in some way since its inception. They provide key support in a variety of ways throughout the year and the support over the past decades has been tremendous.”

The team at Strack & Van Til volunteers often at the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana. They prepared the holiday meal kits, provided by the supermarket chain, to be ready for distribution in time for Thanksgiving dinner.

“As we continue to work hard in our stores to meet the needs of our customers and our community, we realize many people in Northwest Indiana need help, especially during the holidays” said Jeff Strack, CEO of Strack & Van Til. “We are proud of our partnership with the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana and the ability to provide food assistance to so many families. Helping feed our neighbors has always been a priority for Strack & Van Til”
