This year, Father’s Day falls on Sunday, June 19, and by any name – Pop, Pop, Dad, Father, Papa, Daddy, Father-in-law, Uncle or Friend – he deserves to be treated like a king. Start by giving him a break from the grill and pre-order Father’s Day dinner from your local Strack & Van Til Deli Department.

Dad and the whole family will love the delicious Prime Rib Dinner, which includes four, 8-ounce slices of Prime Rib, twice-baked potatoes, Biscayne vegetable blend, King’s Hawaiian sweet dinner rolls, garlic butter and au jus.

Is your dad more of a rib guy? Strack & Van Til’s BBQ Rib Meal is as good as the ones he cooks himself. The meal comes with two full slabs of baby back BBQ ribs, 4 pounds of macaroni and cheese, 2 pounds of creamy or vinegar and oil cole slaw and 1 dozen King’s Hawaiian dinner rolls.

Both meals are fully cooked and ready to heat and serve. Simply place your order by Wednesday, June 15 for pick-up on Saturday, June 18.

“If you’d rather plan a picnic, Our Famous Fried or Grilled chicken is another easy family favorite,” notes Deli Director Kristin Snow.

While you’re at it, pick up deli fresh salads to enhance your meal. Choose traditional potato salads such as Our Own Homestyle or mustard potato, or specialty potato salads, including Steakhouse or Premium potato with extra egg and dressing. Other easy crowd-pleasers include our fresh spinach and pasta salad with pine nuts and parmesan cheese, sweet bowtie pasta with bacon or Caprese pasta salad loaded with fresh mozzarella. Or opt for baked beans, Texas baked beans, summer slaw or Chicago chopped salads.

Check out the Deli Department and the specialty cheese shop for a variety of cheeses, salamis, jerkies, olives, nuts, fruit or cheese spreads, and the perfect cracker or bruschetta toast to create a Father’s Day charcuterie board.

Try something different for the perfect appetizer paired with Dad’s favorite beverage. This specialty cheese dish is made with Brun-Uusto baked cheese with garlic that forms a tasty crust similar to toasted bread. The warmth and pungent spice of the garlic complements the rich buttery flavor.

“These do not require a very hot fire, so use the lid to get a good smoke,” adds Snow.

Grilled Garlic Cheese Bread Skewer

Ready in 20 minutes. Serves 6

10 sun-dried tomatoes halves, in oil

2 Tablespoons of oil from the sun-dried tomatoes

½ cup olive oil

1 garlic clove, finely minced

¼ teaspoon salt

½ pound French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes (about half of a large loaf)

¾ pound Brun-Uusto (baked cheese with garlic), cut into ½-inch cubes

Place a grilling rack over the barbecue, about 4 to 6 inches from the heat. Pour 2 Tablespoons oil from the sun-dried tomatoes in a large bowl. Pat the tomato halves dry with a paper towel and cut into quarters, set aside.

Stir olive oil, garlic and salt into tomato oil. Toss bread cubes into the oil mixture until well-coated.

Thread bread, cheese and tomato quarters, alternately on skewers and grill over coals for about five minutes or until cheese begins to melt, and bread is toasted.

Serve immediately with your favorite oil flavored dipping sauce or make the one below:

¼ cup flavored oil                                           2 tsp. garlic

1 Tablespoon Italian seasoning                   Dash of salt
