Some might argue that lunch is the most important meal of the day. We have a wonderful opportunity midday to take a break, absorb more nutrients and regain our focus for the afternoon. Studies show that people who eat lunch are more likely to maintain a stable body weight and not overeat in the evening. Lunch can be a much-needed break that can improve productivity and overall health.

For kid’s lunch is a vital part of development and mental focus. A midday elevation of blood sugar and mood can stimulate brain activity and physical stamina. When you eat a balanced lunch, it will help you stay full and focused throughout the afternoon. A balanced lunch should include vegetables or fruit, a protein source, and a whole grain. Here are three examples of balanced lunches for people of any age.

  1. An open-faced sandwich with avocado, tomato and a lean protein like egg or deli turkey.
  2. Grilled chicken with rice, leafy greens and a sprinkle of cheese.
  3. Oats and chia seeds soaked in milk with seasonal fruit and a dollop of almond butter.
